About The Author

Mahbub Rashid

As a parent, I discovered firsthand that communicating with young children presents its own unique, beautiful challenges. Despite my academic training in difficult conversations and negotiation, it was personal experience that taught me the profound importance of honesty, empathy, and trust when speaking with kids especially during tough, scary moments. This very realization became the heart and foundation of my work as a new author.

My journey to storytelling has been shaped by the intersection of diverse cultures. Originally moving to the United States from Bangladesh in 2001, I brought with me a rich blend of cultural perspectives. While I completed my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the field of business, my true education came from traveling across four different states and more than ten countries. These experiences allowed me to explore diverse viewpoints and observe how culture and society beautifully shape how children grow, learn, and connect with the world.

A Life Shaped by Two Worlds

My journey is defined by the intersection of two very different worlds, each playing a vital role in who I have become. On one side are my roots in Bangladesh a world of rich heritage, vibrant culture, and a deep sense of community that taught me the value of belonging. On the other side is the quiet, demanding world of hospital corridors and medical uncertainty that we navigated during my daughter’s brave recovery. Balancing the warmth of my origins with the profound challenges of a health crisis has given me a unique perspective on life. It has taught me that resilience isn’t just about surviving; it’s about taking the lessons from both worlds to create something meaningful, hopeful, and truly human.

From Corporate Leadership to Parenting Lessons

Navigating the fast-paced corporate world requires strategy, focus, and resilience. But nothing could have prepared me for the ultimate test of leadership: guiding my family through an unexpected medical crisis. Summer’s hospital journey taught me profound lessons no boardroom ever could: lessons about vulnerability, the true meaning of courage, and how love and patience are the greatest strengths we possess. This story is a reflection of that deep transition, from managing complex projects to managing hope for my child.
